Chapter 2: Configuring the IPMI Settings

Thissectionprovides
detailed
information onhowtoconfigure the IPMI
settings.
2.1 Accessing the Baseboard Management Controller
1.Connect a LAN cable totheonboard LAN1 port orthededicated IPMI
LANport.
2.Choose acomputer connected to the same network and open the
IPMIutility.
3.Go to File>New>System. Enter System Name, IPAddress ofLAN1 or
the
dedicated
LAN, Description inthe a ppropriate fields and press
<Enter>.
4.Select the system from the IPMI Domain. Enter theLogin IDand Password
in
the
appropriate fields tologin to the IPMI
utility.
Using the Internet
Browser
1.Connect a LAN cable totheonboard LAN1 port orthededicated IPMI
LANport.
2.Choose acomputer th at is connected tothe same network andopen
thebrowse r.
3.Enter theIPaddress of each server that you want toconnect tointhe
ad‐
dress bar
inyour
browser.
4.Once your machine isconnected to the remote server, the Log‐In screen
as
shown
onthe next page will
display.
Note 1: If you wish to use the IPMI-dedicated LAN port for your
network
connections, be sure to connect an RJ45 cable to your dedicated LAN
port
before you activate the BMC (at first power-on or cold reset).
Otherwise,
the BMC will look for a shared LAN port to connect to if the
IPMI-dedicated
LAN cable is not detected upon BMC
activation.
Note 2: However, if you should decide to use the IPMI-dedicated LAN
port
for a
network connection, please perform a BMC cold reset or power
cycle
reset
for the dedicated LAN to be
detected.
