Installation

This section provides field procedures for installing and configuring the SNC 6101 for operation with the

Scalar 100. At the completion of these procedures, your SNC 6101 will be:

• mounted in the Scalar 100

• correctly cabled to the Scalar 100 SCSI devices

Refer to the section To connect the SCSI ports

on page 17.

• running the latest version of firmware

Refer to the section To upgrade SNC 6101 Firmware

on page 25.

• configured with an IP and Gateway address and host name

Refer to the section To configure the SNC 6101

on page 22.

• connected to a host with a properly installed and configured HBA card using the latest drivers and

firmware. Refer to the section Installing the Host Bus Adapter Card

on page 26.

• verified for correct operation

Getting Started

The SNC 6101 installation process involves:

• Unpacking and Inspecting your received components

• Pre-installation preparation

• Installing the SNC 6101 module in the Scalar 100

• Cabling the SNC 6101 to its interface devices

• Configuring the SNC 6101 using the null modem service port

• Installing and configuring an HBA card in your host

• Verifying SNC 6101 operation
