SNC 6101 User’s Guide 39
7 After the SNC 6101 reboots, use fcShowNames to verify your changes.
Verify that the output in the Node Name column is correct.
Changing a WWN for one FC port
Use the following procedure when you replace another vendor’s appliance with an SNC 6101 and it is critical
that one of the replacement SNC FC ports retain the same WWN as the FC port of the replaced appliance.
1 Read the section Changing the WWN
on page 37.
2 Follow the instructions in Before Changing the WWN on a Replacement SNC 6101
on page 37.
3 From the service terminal, enter the wwnPortSet <port> command to set the WWPN and WWNN
for a single FC port. wwnPortSet sets the Port and Node WWNs for a single FC port. The port number
is also specified on the command line. After your entry is checked for syntax and the WWN you entered
is valid, you are prompted to enter a password. Refer to the following wwnPortSet example:
SNC > wwnPortSet 2
This command will change the WWN for Fibre Channel Port <2>. You will be
asked to provide both the Node WWN and Port WWN for this port.
You should never operate 2 FC devices that are set to the same WWN. This
may destabilize your SAN.
Do you want to proceed (enter "yes" to continue): yes
Enter the new Node WWN (or q to quit): 10:20:30:40:50:60:70:80
Enter the new Port WWN (or q to quit): 11:21:31:41:51:61:71:81
Enter the Password: OverrideWWN
If the password you enter is valid, this also causes the SNC 6101 to reboot.
4 After the SNC 6101 has rebooted, enter the fcShowNames command to verify the change.
5 Verify that the output in the Port Name column is correct.
CAUTION
Because you are changing the SNC WWNs to represent another
vendors device, there are no checks to make certain an appropriate
node or port ID or OUI are entered. Use caution. Entering inaccurate
WWN information could cause communication issues.
CAUTION
WWN override functions are available only through the service port.
These commands cannot be executed if attempted in a telnet session.
CAUTION
Most vendors require the OUI and device ID to match between the
WWPN and WWNN. Make sure these values match or device
connectivity may not occur. It is possible for the SNC to have a
different WWNN for each port.
