Placing the Library

Off-line

To place the library off-line:

Note:

You must have Operator level access privileges or higher to perform

this procedure (see “Changing the GUI Security Level” on page 49).

Procedure

With the library turned on and the GUI indicating “System

On-line,” press the Standby button on the GUI.

Verify that the GUI displays “System Off-line.”

Turning Off the Library

To turn off the library:

Procedure

Place the library off-line (see the previous section, “Placing the

Library Off-line”).

The library completes the current command and then stops.

Verify that the GUI displays “System Off-line.”

Verify that the gripper is empty by checking the Overview screen.

If there is a tape cartridge in the gripper, execute a Move command

to place the cartridge in an empty bin or drive (see “Moving a

Cartridge” on page 64).

At the front panel, set the power switch off.

Caution:

Always leave the library power off for at least 15 seconds

before turning it on again.

Inserting Tape

Cartridges

This section explains how to insert tape cartridges.

Note:

You must have Import Only level access privileges or higher to

perform this procedure (see “Changing the GUI Security Level” on

page 49).

Caution:

Do not use CompacTape I™, CompacTape II™, or

CompacTape IIIXT™ tape cartridges in this library.
